Welcome to the home page of the Goose River Golf Club, a beautiful 9-hole, par 35 layout located in Hillsboro, ND.

The Goose River Golf Club is located northwest of Hillsboro on 6th Street NW which is the I-29 Frontage road north.  When you exit I-29 into Hillsboro, take the very first left and drive a half-mile right into our parking lot.

The Club was established in 1961 and the course opened for play in 1964.  The Club is owned by its stockholders from the Hillsboro and Halstad, Minnesota area and is open to the public.  The course has been host to many North Dakota High School regional and state tournaments and is a regular stop on the Red River Valley Senior Tour.

Our course is lined with mature trees and we are continually planting new trees in key areas on the course to keep it beautiful and challenging for the future.  The greens are bent grass greens that are smooth, fairly speedy, and give the expert golfers a challenge to read.  Several tee boxes have been re-designed in the last few years and lined with brick to make them pleasing to the eye.  The finest tee box is the brand new, elevated 3rd tee that overlooks the Goose River and provides a panoramic view down the dog-leg left fairway.  Fairways are carefully manicured and provide great lies for approach shots to the greens.  The course is not long at just over 3000 yards so the recreational golfer can have a fun outing.  For the experienced golfer, the elevation changes, sloping greens, and mature trees provide a good test of skills.

The Goose River Golf club has been home to some of the top competitors in amateur golf in the states of North Dakota and Minnesota.  Liz Hanson, the crafty lefthander who was consistently in the finals of the North Dakota State Women's Match Play tournaments in the 60's, 70's and 80's, called the GRGC home.  Liz is currently enshrined in the North Dakota Golf Hall of Fame.  Former Minnesota State High School League Class A medalist, Joe Christianson of Halstad, Mn., grew up on the GRGC before moving on to the NCAA Division 1 ranks at Iowa State University.  Jason Brustad, Hillsboro also a former golfer at the GRGC is currently a golf pro at Montreux Golf and Country Club in Reno, Nevada.
